As they are, it looks like everyone in the audience lost the lower halves of their bodies and are now stacking themselves on the top of each other’s heads to get a good view. On the topic of the audience, however, they could really use chairs. The swimmers have a cute design to them, the water effects are very well animated, the different poses the swimmers do keep the game nice and varied, and the audience’s reactions to the dolphins helps bring more life and charm to the game instead of just having a static background. I’ll give it credit for really playing around with the “ 1 e & u 2 e & u” rhythm a lot (Rhythmic patterns are really hard to put into words, forgive me), and the music alone really amplifies the gameplay. Of course, Splashdown is great in isolation. In fact, as far as placement of the games go, I feel like the two should switch places (and while you’re at it, switch Fillbots with DJ School). It kind of suffers from not introducing anything new. It’s perfectly fine, but Splashdown doesn’t really add anything to the table that Glee Club hasn’t. Gameplay-wise, Splashdown kind of feels like a watered-down version of Glee Club (hehe). They do a great job setting the scene for the rest of the song in the intro, which ends up being the part of the song I always remember the most. My favorite part, however, definitely has to be the percussion, where the toms pop out at you and the claps decorate the music. The piano in the verse is pleasing to listen to, the trumpets and electric guitar in the pre-chorus are boisterous and do a great job building up to the chorus, and the chorus itself is amazingly celebratory and feel-good. It’s got a peppy and exciting melody with great instrumentation. Splashdown’s music is definitely its strongest quality. Some of these games are good, others are more mediocre, but let’s run down the list to really analyze them, shall we? Splashdown Hey!
